Colorado River Schools Fieldhouse

BULLHEAD CITY – The Arizona-based company building the new Colorado River Fieldhouse will hold an information fair for area businesses interested in bidding on subcontractor work. CORE Construction will host the event on August 22 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.

It will be held at the Colorado River Schools district office, 1004 Hancock Road in Bullhead City. Subcontractor qualifications and bidding procedures will be discussed. Because of space limitations, reservations are required, and businesses are limited to two attendees.

“We’ve emphasized from the beginning that we want this project to keep local as many construction jobs as possible,” said Superintendent Riley Frei. “CORE is reviewing a list of hundreds of Tri-State businesses and individuals from Bullhead City and Laughlin to Mohave Valley, Topock and Needles registered with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors as well as contractors who belong to area chambers of commerce.”

In January the Colorado River Union High School District (CRUHSD) board approved CORE as the construction manager. CORE was also the contractor for Lee Williams High School in Kingman. Orcutt | Winslow and International Coliseums Company were selected for architectural and design services, assisted by Seabury Fritz Architects of Ft. Mohave.

The Fieldhouse was approved by CRUHSD voters last fall as part of a $35 million bond that will also include improvements at Mohave and River Valley High Schools. Located on a 15 acre tract, it will be immediately northwest of the Mohave Crossroads Shopping Center and southwest of Mohave Community College, adjacent to the new Colorado River second bridge connecting Laughlin and an extension of the south end of the Bullhead Parkway. Bullhead City and CRUHSD are also working together on necessary construction permits.

With a floorplan of approximately 125,000 square feet, construction is expected to be completed in 2019, in time for Mohave High School’s 50th anniversary; River Valley High School turned 25 this year.

Additional information about the subcontractor fair, including attendance registration, is available at or from CORE director of marketing Jessica Bateman at 602-774-3919.
